London is one of the best cities in the world, if not the best. One of the benefits is that it has a fantastic mixture of both history and modern life. Not to mention it being a city that is rich in different cultures, along with the fantastic cuisines that are available. It has a wonderful mixture of everything, and it can be quite difficult to absorb everything about London. That being said, you can enjoy a fantastic weekend here, and you can see a lot of London before you have to head back home.
The transport links are something that many people despise; however, it is something you cannot fault, and it is a city that is very easy to get around in. You can either travel on the tube or via the bus, although we would recommend the tube, given how affordable it is. So, if you are heading to London, here is the ultimate 2-day itinerary.
Day 1
To kickstart your Saturday morning, you want to spend it in no place other than the city centre. Here are the more iconic parts of the capital, such as Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. All of which are iconic parts of London. Then, to take in the sights even more, consider the London Eye, where you can get fantastic panoramic views of the whole city.
Lunch
After your action-packed morning, it is time to get some food because you will certainly need it by the time you reach lunch. We must recommend the Borough Market, where they have a fantastic selection of foods. There are so many restaurants to choose from, which can be quite overwhelming, from Greek, Persian, Chinese, Malaysian and much more. The restaurants and food here are fantastic.
Afternoon
Once you have finished eating and your food has settled, it is time to explore even more of London. Now, we recommend going for a stroll along the South Bank, which is along the river. Here, you can visit the Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and even the Millennium Bridge. Then you can cross over the river to the iconic St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Evening
To finish off your final day, there’s no better place to spend it than Covent Garden. This is where you will truly get that London experience with street performers, a lively atmosphere and a fantastic selection of restaurants. Then, to finish the night, you can either head to a West End Theatre or even Soho.
Day 2
Now for day two, and there is still a lot more to see despite your action-packed day. In the morning, you have the choice of going to the Tower of London and seeing the Tower Bridge or heading towards Buckingham Palace, where you can see the changing of the guard at 11 AM. Now you could see both, it all depends on where you have breakfast and what time you get up in the morning.
Lunch
As London is very famous for its food, you are not going to struggle for food on day two. Here we will give you two options. First, you have Notting Hill, where you can see the iconic multicoloured houses. Not only this, but it is a great spot for a number of cafes such as L’ETO, Butter Bakery Bar & Cafe, St Clair Cafe and even Conscience Kitchen. There are many more, but these are certainly the best of the bunch.
Shoreditch is also home to many fantastic eateries such as Rack & Bite Smokehouse, Kricket, Flat Iron, the Much and many more. It is a fantastic place to have your lunch, so it definitely shouldn’t be missed when you are there. After that, you can burn those calories off strolling past the street art, which is scattered all over.
Afternoon
Now that you have a full stomach, it is time for some more exploring, and this time, you can either head to one of London’s famous museums or, if the weather is nice, consider one of the city’s iconic parks. Some of the parks that you can choose from are Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, or Kensington Gardens. Then for your museums, you can consider the British Museum, Victoria & Albert or even the Natural History Museum.
Evening
In the evening of your final day in London, consider taking in some sunset views. The Sky Garden is free, but make sure you book ahead of time. You also have the Shard, which offers a lot of fine dining options and bars, or just finish the evening off on Primrose Hill.
In terms of your food, we recommend finishing with some British classics. Some of the restaurants that you can choose from are Rabbit British Bistro, Rules, Fallow and even Great British Restaurant (It is literally in the name).
Your Ultimate two-day London Itinerary
So there you have it, your ultimate two-day itinerary in London. Yes, you will find it difficult to see everything; however, you will still get to see a lot. If you do have an extra day because you have chosen a bank holiday or you have just booked a full weekend, we would recommend heading to East London for the day. Here you have Canary Wharf, Spitalfields, Whitechapel, and Romford, where you have The Liberty, a fantastic shopping centre that helps you escape the busy city centre and provides a more enjoyable shopping experience.
