Tables of Distinction: Where to Dine in London

London is one of the greatest cities in the world when it comes to architecture and must-see sights. That being said, London is also well-known for its food scene. From street food to fine dining, it has plenty of food from all over the world, which is why it is such a thriving food scene. Let’s take a look at some of the best restaurants in 2025 in London.

Miga

Miga is one of the great restaurants that kick-starts this list, and it is one we certainly love. This is a modern Korean family-run restaurant that has taken East London by storm. Miga is, without a doubt, a restaurant that is going to teach you about new flavours and exquisite foods. Miga goes back to another family-run restaurant, which was located in New Malden. Then the father’s children convinced him to showcase his talents in Hackney, and since its launch, it is one of London’s most talked-about restaurants.

When people think of good-quality food in London, they expect extortionate prices with very small portions. Now, although Miga specialises in small plates, high prices are something that it doesn’t follow. You can expect a main course around £20, along with £9-16 starters and sides costing around £5. For a modern restaurant, it can be considered quite affordable, especially with the standard of food that you are receiving.

Plates

Plates is another restaurant that brings fantastic food to London and it is the UK’s first ever Michelin-starred vegan restaurant, which is quite an accomplishment. The dishes are nothing but fantastic, whether you are a vegan or not. The chef of this fantastic restaurant is also very known which is Chef Kirk Haworth, a face that is recognised from the BBC’s Great British Menu.

Everything about this restaurant is amazing, including the exterior and interior decor. The only issue with this restaurant is that there is a very long waiting list, so you’ll have to be patient if you wish to eat at this very green and sustainable restaurant.

The price of plates is considered to be quite expensive but what do you expect with a Michelin-star restaurant? For the lunch menu, it is a total of £90 and then for the dinner menu, it is £108. You can also have the dinner menu at lunch but you’ll have to pay the same price.

The Dover

The Dover is another great restaurant that you can choose which is in the heart of Mayfair. The problem with Mayfair is that the restaurants tend to be pricy, flashy, and all designed for Instagrammers. That is not the case with Dover, as it has a stunning dark interior that is perfect for a romantic evening with your partner.

The Dover is a New York/ Italian style restaurant and bar, which is what you will be eating from the menu as well. This restaurant certainly takes you back in time, especially with their corner booths and martinis. On the menu, you will find all of the Italian classics that will leave you full once you leave.

Mayfair is a very busy area, so we recommend that you try to pre-book this restaurant in plenty of time. Furthermore, there is plenty of Mayfair parking available to leave your car, so make sure you pre-book this in before the night.

Sesta

Sesta is another great place to go for some fantastic food and is perfect for those slightly quirky customers. The chef’s plates, Drew Snaith, are very seasonal but also have a unique twist to each of the dishes. We’d be surprised if you had any of the meals on the menu before because they are so unique and the flavours are something that you would not think goes well.

One of the benefits of Sesta is that it doesn’t charge extortionate prices for these quirky dishes, unlike many other restaurants. Starters and snacks range from £4-15, and mains can cost anywhere between £26-30, so an affordable night for fantastic food, the Sesta restaurant should be up there on your list.

Mauby

Up next is Mauby, a wonderful and flavoursome restaurant with west-indian food. The founders took over this restaurant in 2024, and now it showcases seasonal plates. Here you will have juicy lamb chops and crispy smashed potatoes, along with many other foods. The price of these foods is very affordable as well, with small plates costing roughly £5s and main meals costing around £10-£15.

Brunswick House

Brunswick House is a very chic, antique-looking restaurant that is a Grade II listed building. This marvelous building was constructed in 1758 and still has that 1700s charm. In fact, the interior constantly changes due to the connections with the local antique traders. Now onto the food.

The set lunch menu will cost you a total of £19. Here you get to enjoy pork loin for your first course, beef shin ragu for the second and to finish it off with a sorrel and green apple sorbet with chocolate and peanut butter cookie.

On the à la Carte menu, you are spoilt for choice, but this can cost around £5-£7 for the starters, £17-33 for the main, and any sharing dishes are between £48 and £95.

St John

St John is up next for great restaurants in London that you have to visit this year. Again, an affordable restaurant that is on the list. Small plates £13.50-16.60, large plates £26-38, puddings £5.50-12. This menu is a typical Great British menu, where you can really enjoy British flavours. From Eccles cake and Lancashire cheese to roasted bone marrow, this is without a doubt one of the best restaurants.

AngloThai

Last but certainly not least is AngloThai, which is located in Marylebone so this is certainly one of the more expensive restaurants and one of the reasons for that is due to it’s Michelin star. The Chef’s, John and Desiree Chantarasak’s, food has been years in the making with pop-ups all over the capital. Now, they officially have a brick-and-mortar restaurant which is loved by the critics.

There is a lot to offer on their menus and there are so many flavours which you probably haven’t tried before. That being said, there are two standout dishes which include Brixham crab with Exmoor caviar and coconut ash cracker or, the Ryall Farm hogget massaman curry with Hebridean sheep.

A Culinary Journey Through London

There are a number of restaurants that are worth going to in London, some affordable and some expensive. That is why in this list we have given a good mixture of high-end restaurants and some that are on the more affordable scale. There is a good variety of cuisines in this list as well, so we are sure there will be one for you. If you are ever travelling to London, we advise you at least add one of these to your list of eateries.
